Licence for 503 neutron probe in Australia

There is no national licensing system in Australia. Some states (?) allow operators to work under the probe owners licence. Some states require a separate licence to store the neutron probe.

NSW

Users require an R30 licence. A licence for the storage of a 503 is proposed.

The Environment Protection Authority is responsible for licensing

The licensee shall use a sealed radioactive source in accordance with the NHMRC Radiation Health Series Publication No. 11 Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Soil Density and Moisture Gauges Containing Radioactive Sources (1984). This publication covers storage requirements for soil density and moisture gauges.
The holder of an R:30 licence can store soil and moisture density gauges. However, the person must abide by and meet the conditions stated in Section 6 (Storage and Transport) of the Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Soil Density and Moisture Gauges Containing Radioactive Sources (1984)
